1. OTF (OpenType Font) & TTF (TrueType Font) Regular

Description:

  • OTF & TTF Regular: These are standard font formats used widely across various platforms and software for general typesetting and design purposes.

Compatible Software:

  • Adobe Illustrator: Import and use in vector design projects.
  • Microsoft Word: Use for document creation.
  • CorelDRAW: Integrate for vector graphic design.
  • Inkscape: Apply for vector editing and design.
  • Cricut Design Space: Upload and use for cutting projects.
  • Silhouette Studio: Import for use in cutting and crafting projects.

Instructions:

  1. Install the Font:
  • Download the OTF/TTF file.
  • Double-click the file to open the font preview window.
  • Click “Install” to add the font to your system.
  1. Using in Software:
  • Open your preferred software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator).
  • Select the text tool and choose the installed font from the font dropdown menu.
  • Start typing with the selected font.
  1. Saving and Exporting:
  • Save your project as usual.
  • For vector design software, export the project as SVG, PDF, or EPS if needed.

2. OTF & TTF Single Stroke

Description:

  • OTF & TTF Single Stroke: These formats are ideal for single-line applications such as engraving, CNC, and laser cutting. These fonts trace as double lines in software.

Compatible Software:

  • LightBurn: For laser cutting and engraving.
  • VCarve: For CNC machining projects.
  • Sure Cuts A Lot: For cutting machine projects.
  • Silhouette Studio: For single-line crafts and designs.

Instructions:

  1. Install the Font:
  • Follow the same installation steps as for OTF/TTF Regular.
  1. Using in Software:
  • Open your preferred CNC or laser cutting software (e.g., LightBurn).
  • Select the text tool, choose the installed single stroke font, and design your text.
  1. Toolpath Creation:
  • Convert the text into a toolpath, ensuring you select the appropriate settings for single-line cutting or engraving.
  • Preview the toolpath to verify correct tracing.
  1. Export and Cutting:
  • Export the toolpath in the required format (e.g., G-code for CNC).
  • Load it into your machine for cutting or engraving.

3. OTF-SVG (Special OpenType-SVG Font)

Description:

  • OTF-SVG: This special format offers enhanced detail and scalability, ideal for intricate designs and multi-colored glyphs.

Compatible Software:

  • Adobe Illustrator: Fully supports OTF-SVG for detailed vector designs.
  • CorelDRAW: Use for high-quality graphic projects.
  • Affinity Designer: Import and work with SVG format efficiently.

  • Follow the same steps as for other OTF fonts.

  • Open Adobe Illustrator or another compatible software.

4. OPF (Open Path Font)

Description:

  • OPF: Used specifically in software like Sure Cuts A Lot and Starcraft CREATE for single-path designs, perfect for vinyl cutting and other crafting.

Compatible Software:

  • Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL): Designed for crafting projects with cutting machines.
  • Starcraft CREATE: Use for creating intricate single-path designs.

Instructions:

  1. Install and Use:
  • OPF fonts don’t require traditional installation. Load them directly into SCAL or Starcraft CREATE.
  • Open SCAL and import the OPF file.
  • Design your project using the single-path features.
  1. Exporting for Cutting:
  • Export the design in a suitable format for your cutting machine, typically as SVG.

5. SVG Hershey

Description:

  • SVG Hershey: A vector-based format used for single-line designs in software supporting SVG, particularly for engraving and crafting.

Compatible Software:

  • Inkscape: Primary software for working with SVG Hershey.
  • LightBurn: For laser engraving.
  • Cricut Design Space: Upload and use for precise cutting.

Instructions:

  1. Using in Software:
  • Open Inkscape or another SVG-compatible software.
  • Import the SVG Hershey file into your project.
  • Customize and adjust the design as needed.
  1. Exporting:
  • Export the final design as SVG or another vector format suitable for your cutting or engraving machine.

6. SHX (Shape Compiled Font)

Description:

  • SHX: A format used in CAD software, particularly for CNC and architectural designs.

Compatible Software:

  • AutoCAD: Main software for SHX fonts.
  • DraftSight: Alternative CAD software supporting SHX.

Instructions:

  1. Install and Use:
  • SHX fonts are typically installed by placing the SHX file in the CAD software’s fonts directory.
  • Open AutoCAD and select the SHX font from the text style manager.
  • Use it in your CAD designs for single-line text.
  1. Saving and Exporting:
  • Save your project as DWG or DXF to retain SHX font formatting.
  • For CNC or other applications, export as necessary.
